Advanced People Management

Just finished this 4-day course. At the end of it, we have to give feedback to each other. I received the following feedback from the other 15 participants:

1) I give the first impression that I am arrogant
2) I give the first impression that I am not approachable
3) I can be very negative sometimes
4) I can offend people when I ask challenging questions
5) My body gesture gives an indication that I am bossy
6) People find out that I am not the person they think I am after a few days.

etc,etc.

These are not news to me. I have been like that for many years. My first impression to people is always bad. Don't know how I could improve it. I admire people could be critical but would not offend people when they talk.

Sir Donald has gone...

CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Principles of Life

Read this from an email:

ONE. Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

TWO. Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.

THREE. Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.

FOUR. When you say, "I love you," mean it

FIVE. When you say, "I'm sorry," look the person in the eye.

SIX. Be engaged at least six months before you get married.

SEVEN. Believe in love at first sight.

EIGHT. Never laugh at anyone's dream. People who don't have dreams don't have much.

NINE. Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.

TEN... In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.

ELEVEN. Don't judge people by their relatives.

TWELVE. Talk slowly but think quickly.

THIRTEEN. When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, "Why do you want to know?"

FOURTEEN. Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

FIFTEEN. Say "bless you" when you hear someone sneeze.

SIXTEEN. When you lose, don't lose the lesson

SEVENTEEN. Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and responsibility for all your actions.

EIGHTEEN. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.

NINETEEN. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

TWENTY. Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.

TWENTY-ONE. Spend some time alone.

Post Annual Leave Syndrome

After my 2-week core leave, there were so many things piling up on my desk. And worst of all, I have a training next week starting on Tuesday. That means I only have two days to resolve outstanding issues.

I have also got a development centre to attend on the second week of May. I have to complete an occupational personality questionnaire and a self assessment form before attending it. So I am now overwhelmed by paperwork...

Back from Japan

Just come back from Fukuoka. This was a trip for 8 days. Lots of good food, hot spring, shopping for CDs (spent quite a lot this time), etc. Prior to this trip, I also went to Krabi in Thailand for 4 days. Will stay in HK for a few days and will head for Shanghai again. After that, my core leave this year will have been completed.

Why can't people stop doing these things at concerts?

1. talking
2. searching things in a bag
3. putting on a jacket
4. clapping at the wrong moments
5. taking tissues out of the small pack, which creates a horrible noise
6. dropping the programme
7. coughing unnecessarily
8. bringing children under 6 into the concert hall

倫永亮

Any body can find the song by 倫永亮 called 跳出套圈? It is in his first album. Can't find it anywhere in the internet, let alone the CD. This song's lyrics is fabulous. Any one listened to it before?
